Bed Bugs
- Identification: Small, reddish-brown insects that feed on blood and hide in cracks and crevices.
- Behavior: Active at night, bed bugs feed on sleeping humans and animals.
- Signs: Red, itchy bites on the skin, small blood stains on bedding, and dark fecal spots on mattresses.
- Health Risks: Bed bug bites can lead to skin infections and allergic reactions.

PRE-TREATMENT STEPS PRIOR TO INITIAL BED BUG SERVICE
- All large pieces of furniture must be pulled at least two feet away from the base- boards in every room of the home or building.
- People, birds, cats, dogs, reptiles and other pets must remain out of the property during and after treatment for a minimum of 4 hours. Fish tanks must be covered and the air filters and filtration systems for the tanks should be shut off during treatment.
- Babies and children under the age of 5 are required to stay out of the property for a minimum of 12 hours after treatment.
- All mattress and box spring covers must be removed prior to the pest control treatment. These items should be washed and dried at a high temperature.
- After the treatment, the mattress covers can be placed back onto the mattress and box spring.
- Cribs, crib mattresses, and other baby furniture will be inspected and cleaned.
- Shoes that aren’t being worn should be placed in new plastic bags or plastic containers and sealed tightly. These items can be stored in an unaffected room or garage.
- Budget Pest Control’s bed bug services consist of 3 treatments within 7-to-10-day intervals to kill eggs, nymphs and adult bed bugs.
- All furnishings should be approximately 2 feet away from the walls.
- Take clothes to the laundromat to wash all linens, bedding materials, clothing, stuffed animals, etc. in the highest water temperature that will not damage clothing and dry on the hottest heat setting that will not damage clothing.
- Place all laundered items in sealed plastic containers or new plastic bags and relocate them to an unaffected room, area or garage.
- All clothing that cannot be laundered must be dry-cleaned. It’s recommended that you leave your cleaned items at the cleaners between initial treatment and follow-up visit.
- Vacuum floors, carpets, area rugs, sofas and chairs. Use the crack and crevice attachment around baseboards, bed frames, sofas, and other furnishings. When you’re done vacuuming place a powder on the floor and vacuum it up as it will suffocate the bed bugs. When you’re done, discard the vacuum bag and contents in an outdoor receptacle.
- All luggage that has been used recently during travel must remain empty so that it may be inspected and treated if necessary.
